Timeline: Day: 8/9/09 Time: 1 PM
----------------------------------
A hop and a skip through the pathways after the first meeting, and she was back home ...
That was too weird. It was simply too weird. Never had she seen elves or things in storybooks ... she had never heard people sing in normal conversation before ... and others ... That had to be a bad dream. How could she even think it was real, just for a blithering second? She had a job to do, and she was messing around in her own little world.
Back to work.
Samus glanced about the elevator room and quickly put her helmet back on, and began to check to see if all of her functions were all online. It was comforting to see familiar scenery, no matter how small it was. The blue door to the left of the room, right ahead of her, the purple walls ... and, of course, the elevator down to Norfair. She'd have to go there eventually, but there was something she needed to find here first.
The huntress walked away from the portal behind her, raised her arm cannon, fired at the door, and walked through. She had to hunt for those extra Missiles, and perhaps ... the Super Missiles, if she could find them.
Hopefully.

It had only been mere minutes from when Samus had exited, but from inside the portal, a great many sounds came like shouts through a door; half muffled skittering and scratching that grew louder and louder every moment growing and growing. Through the mysterious and seemingly stable portal, stretched a long grayish tribal rune etched spider leg slammed into the stone floor, sending dust and bits of rubble in each direction. One leg after another pushed through the portal, gripping at the sides and slowly pulling at the stone. Swaths of stone slowly were worn away, and inch by inch an enormous spider forced through the portal.
It stood about twenty feet from the ground, and was a good fifty feet long. Upon eight thick, stone like legs the creature swayed, patterns inscribed into the surface of the creature's exoskeleton. The ground shook just a bit with every step it took, an enormous bulbous body supported by the legs. From the thorax, was the abdomen; covered in strips of brown and deep brown fur. At the tip of the creature, two large and stone scorpion claws hung down, scraping the ground as it skittered towards the metallic door. Huge mandibles bit into the door frame, small eyes peering down as the giant spider began to work a cut around the metal door through the stone. A single throbbing red eye lay in the center of the creature's body, twitching to the left as the door was thrown free, bashing against the far wall.
In a shriek that shook the ground with triumph, the portal burst with movement behind the spider. Through the portal, tens upon tens of tiny spiders began to flow through, each one not so "tiny" but more as big as a dog. Each one had four legs, a blue thorax, and a single eye on their body, and they came crawling in a great throng through the torn away doorway. One furred leg after another, they charged far ahead of their mother, infesting every crack and swarming over local wildlife where they would find it. Trudging through the broken doorway, Armogohma gave out a shrill shriek, as if a challenge.
Somewhere, deep inside the palace of Twilight, Zant chuckled as he sat upon his throne.

--Warning: Lifeforms detected Threat: High--
"Great 'welcome home' present," Samus muttered. She turned around when she heard the stone cracking away, tumbling ... and the door--THE DOOR! No, these weren't Pirates--they could open the door normally. These were spiders. Huge. Spiders. These were bigger than most of the lifeforms on Zebes! ... These did not belong here.
In a slight panic, she raised her arm cannon and began firing missiles at the spiders, backing down the long, bumpy corridor that was, indeed, the next room. Pools of acid were scattered about the area, with rock formations randomly jutting out of the ground, providing a good platform. But Samus didn't notice that. She could only see the huge-ass spiders ahead of her, and she wasn't sure if the missiles were working.

The second Samus began firing her rockets, it came like a war cry to every single spider in the hallway. Each of the spiders gave a simultaneous shriek, like metal grinding against stone, coming from a thousand speakers. One after another, the young gohmas began their suicide charge; not caring if one or two were picked off by the rockets. Each spider kept safe distance from another, so that if a rocket did hit its mark, the explosion would only be able to hit one at a time. The numbers were far to great to be picked off one by one, though. Soon, the spiders were upon Samus; leaping through the air with their legs outstretched.
At the far end of the hallway, Armogohma buckled down on its stone like legs, the clawed tips digging sharply into the stone and locking the massive spider in place. Slowly, the eye throbbed bright red with power as the markings all over the spider began to take on a reddish hue. The spider stood in place like this for several seconds, then with a sound like electricity shorting out a lightbulb, a beam of fire and light erupted out from the eye. The beam ran along the wall, cutting through stone, rock, and pools of acid as it traced its way towards Samus, intending to sweep over her body from her foot to shoulder in a diagonal cut.

Oh god, there were so many of these. She wouldn't be able to pick them off one by one, and she was wasting ammo. Samus's eyes bugged out when she noticed them lunging at her, and almost as if she was relying on instinct, she deactivated the missile function and started firing somewhat charged Ice Beams at the spiders. As they were suspended in midair, Samus prepared to nick a few with a missile, but she heard a not-too-comforting sound coming from the far end of the hallway. One glance showed her that there was a beam coming towards her, and she tried to jump out of the way.
She managed to succeed in leaping onto a higher platform, but the beam grazed her foot. It cut right through the metal, and she stumbled and fell, somewhat immobilized. Samus bit her lip and tried to ignore the harsh sting. The spiders would be able to move any second now ...

For just a split second, every spider in the room stopped in their tracks, frozen or not. The enemy had been hit. In their tiny, predatory brains, each one felt a twinge, then a rush. Bloodlust, food, hunger, devour..Devour...Soon the ice cracked apart, and the frozen spiders broke free with primal rage. The spiders doubled pace, some of them even rushing across the ceiling and along the walls with their furred and clawed legs digging into the stone as they rushed in a feverish pace now. Invigorated with energy, soon the mass was crawling up at the platform. The once sparse spiders became a thick throng, as if the walls were alive with them. Each one of their bloodied yellow eyes throbbed and glowed, as they threw themselves one after at Samus, an unrelenting horde of monsters in a feeding frenzy.
Armogohma hissed as the beam cooled down, the spider forced back a few feet from the kick back from firing the massive beam. The stone legs scrabbled across the ground like an ice skater without ice skates, regaining their hold in the stone that seemed to break like butter. It was careful to avoid little pockets of acid here and there, and soon found a strong foot hold in the ground, and once more its body began pulsing a deep red. The beam came again, ripping across the ceiling above Samus and aimed to travel down at her head, the energy flowing freely and strongly, wrapped in fire.

For a second, she had NO idea what to do. There seemed to be so many spiders--and they were all after her. Even Zebes wasn't this hostile. She attempted to kick off the spiders, used charged beams to shoo them away for a time.
She took a moment, when there was a brief lull [it was a second, but it was such a beautiful second], to mentally go through her arsenal. Wave Beam ... Ice Beam ... and the Wave Beam went through walls. Quickly, the huntress staggered towards the back, shooting at the spiders to create a walkable 'path.'
"GET OFF!" Samus snapped another few spiders that had managed to cling to her, but she stumbled and fell, thus kicking one of the spiders to the ceiling. It hit, and crashed to the ground. A few others met the same fate, making part of her not-so-safe haven break away due to the pressure. Then, she heard the beam collide with the falling rocks. A sigh of relief escaped her lips, and then she went ahead with the previous plan ...
She aimed arm cannon, activated the Wave Beam, Charge Beam, and Ice Beam functions. Samus charged a shot, and fired a beam that went through the walls, hopefully freezing all the spiders unlucky enough to meet with the attack. Hopefully.

The spiders cringed back, as the wave beam ripped across their ranks. Three lines, three long rows of spiders stretching from just below Samus to all the way along to the door, were cut clean with the beam. Each of the spiders hit by hit, were frozen at such a rapid rate, that the water in their body expanded to form ice, and then shattered by the wave beam mixed in with the function. Pieces of ice, thrown like shattered glass, burst into the air in a beautiful row of reflective ice, shards scattering in every direction. Even though compared to the entirety of the spiders it wasn't much, to the spiders themselves it was enough to thin their ranks just a bit.
But, to a mother that was an unspeakable number of her kin slayed in an instant.
Armogohma, at the far end of the hallway, slammed its forelegs into the ground and gave a shriek scream out towards Samus, a cry of defiance and inner pain. The massive spider almost pole vaulted itself all the way across the room in a single leap with its long, massive stone legs, chunks of the room going flying and splashing into the boiling pools of yellow acid. In mere seconds, the spider skidded all the way down the hallway and was soon face-to-mandible with Samus, attempting to ram into the hunter at full speed with its massive body.

Samus felt a split second of relief when she saw the number of spiders dwindle just a bit, even if it wasn't much, but then she heard the ear-splitting roar. Warning bells went off in her head, and she turned around in time for her to see Armogohma charging at her.
She didn't have much time to react; Samus used the few moments she had to fire at the legs, hopefully slowing down the blow, and then leaping down from her platform, to the main level, and into the acid. Since she had the Varia Suit, the acid wouldn't hurt her ... and she had that beautiful little function called the Morph Ball.
The huntress curled into Morph Ball form and hid in a tight crevice, hopefully avoiding the massive spider's body mass. this was only good for a time ... she had to think fast. There was no way she could kill these things alone, but she had to.

The smaller spiders began to skitter away in all directions, leaving their mother in full rage alone. Each spider began to crawl away, in packs of at least five each. One after another, they were to set themselves upon the planet. To ravage the local wildlife, destroy hostility, they were the first wave in an invasion force. But their mother, their herald, had already found the most hostile thing on the planet-Samus herself. Stumbling and tumbling from the ice clinging to its legs, the spider slipped and slammed into one of the pools of acid, only with the spiders red eye out of the pool. The yellow bubbling liquid, unable to eat through stone, met its match with the spiders actually stone body; but the ice was gone in a mere second of submersion. Blindly, the spider thrashed out of the pool in anger, and with no enemy in sight, began to take that anger out.
Massive stone joints slammed into the walls, raked along the ceiling, bashed into the floor in a fit of rage second to none. The tiny little eyes seemed so calm on the spider, but the giant red eye began to look side to side. What did it see? Did it see what was really there? Or did it see maddening illusions of an enemy? Regardless, it began to destroy everything around it heedlessly with the disappearance of its enemy. Stone fell from the ceiling, torn asunder by the spiders claws. Shards of cave formations were bashed to pieces by the skittering legs, each one striking with a massive blow to the room, and the room probably couldn't take much more.
In a hush though, the spider seemed to calm, then stiffen strait. Directly in front of the spider, and only for a split second, a flash of blue tinted in front of its eyes, mixed images. And then, an arrow, pointing to the hunters hiding spot. Just as quickly as it came, the images dissipated, and the spider's massive red eye slowly lulled in its socket to stare at the pool of acid Samus was in. The single red eye began to strobe bright red, along with the etched designs on its body.
A beam of pure energy and fire burst out, slamming into the pool of acid Samus had hidden herself in. The already bubbling acid became immensely hot, and began to evaporate. But it didn't stop there, the spider continued to fire the beam around the pool until the stone itself began to melt away. Dripping as lava now, the stone around the edges of the acid began to ooze down into the acid. Soon, the pool of acid was now almost as hot as the lava itself, with the beam still striking into the acid like a burner on a stove. The temperature began to raise and raise, and the entirety of the stone that contained the acid began to liquefy with the burning heat.

"Nngh ..." No! Damn! That wasn't natural! Considering this was probably the spider's doing, that ruckus up there must have been what it did, too ... no, no time to worry about it; her energy ... It was falling fast. She had to get out of there.
As fast as the suit would let her, she rolled into an opening, and leaped out, soon reverting to her normal form. The cooling system gradually began to function again, and within a few seconds, she was able to stand steadily [somewhat; her foot was still wounded, after all] to face the person wreaking havoc on her home planet. ... Her home. This monster was wrecking her home. Samus clenched her fist and narrowed her eyes, then glared daggers.
"You WON'T get away with this!" She didn't notice that the flock of smaller spiders wasn't there, nor did she care. She had to take this apparent queen out! Samus raised the arm cannon, and due to prior experience, began to fire missiles directly at the massive spider's eye. That had to be the weak point. It was Mother Brain's ...

Each missile hit with deafening force, right on target with the eye. The spider, too heavy to be sent stumbling back, shrieked in pain and reared up on its hind legs, its forelegs and claws smashing into the sides of the cavern in a flailing motion, wildly swinging its arms and legs with no real purpose. The only response to her words was shrieks of pain, anger, and rage. But while it was reared up on its hind legs, it was already charging another beam, and as soon as the creature came toppling back to all eight of its legs, it was face-to-mandible with Samus once again.
Only this time there was a beam of fire blasting from the eye, point blank at Samus. Pure energy, shot at blinding speeds, over a distance that couldn't be over two meters. Power to tear through stone, being blasted in her face. At the same time, with the same animal instincts, Armogohma's two huge claws swung inwards at Samus, open to attempt to catch her in them, and hold her directly in front of the beams path. If it would hit, the gohma would focus all of its power on holding Samus in its claws as the beam would slam into her suit continuously.

SHIT! Samus felt the stone-esque legs dig into her suit, holding her firmly, and even though her arms were free ... oh god, this was ... NOT looking good. At all. She struggled in the grip, squirming and writhing, trying to escape before--!
Wait a second. It had her by the suit. ... She regretted doing it, it would be a bitch to fix ... but it would be better to have her life. She used her free arm to tap the control panel, to banish her suit. It disappeared in a flash of light, and a more slender Samus fell from the hold, gripping her Paralyzer tightly.
Seeing that the way to her home was blocked ... She'd have to make a run for it, back to The Alicuna. With a heartfelt glance at her home, she turned, and bolted back towards the elevator room. She leaped over the now-shattered [ugh] door, and dashed into the portal, not looking back.

It was a passing glance. One person running one way, the other walking past them. Zant, his iconic helmet and tall stature, and his brisk walk, was set right beside Samus. Going into the portal, as she was coming out of it. He was almost like a part of the scenery, the few seconds she could see him were spent in a complete timeless state. Bang..Bang..Went his bronze shoes against the stone, and his breathing was heard at a low murmur through his mask. Then, he was gone through the portal, into Zebes. Into the hell Samus had just left. Like two people passing in a hallway. One fleeing, and the one who secretly made them flee.
Stepping through the portal, Zant did not stop to view his surroundings, he merely tread on. Armogohma, almost aghast at Zant's presence, almost seemed to bow as he passed. Little bits of twilight, began to rise out of the ground as well. The world seemed to shift, turn, toil, and then all at once hush in an eerie, peaceful state. Like a broken toy. Colors began to fade, and it was almost as if the world was bathed with the last light before the dark of the night set in. Twilight. For this was Zant's world now that Samus had forsaken it.
