The huntress let out a small sigh of relief.
"Good. Now I just need a pen, or a writing utensil of some sort ..." She glanced behind her at Snake, and raised an eyebrow. "You. Got anything I could write with? I'm sure Link here could provide paper if he's used to maps ..." ... God, if she had to, she'd carve on the rock. This poor kid needed a map. Brinstar in itself was huge ...

Snake pulled a pen from one of the many pockets of his utility belt--how he remembered what was where would forever remain a mystery, as would why he randomly had a pen with him--and handed it over to her. He didn't have paper though--which begged the question of why he needed the pen in the first place--so she'd have to get creative with that.

Swiftly his hand moved to a pouch on his leather utility belt, producing an old letter to him from an odd creature named Ooccoo. He handed the parchment to Samus and waited slightly impatiently, though he was too polite to say anything about it.

With mutters of thanks, Samus took both the pen and paper and began to sketchily draw out the map of Brinstar from Norfair's elevator room. She had a good memory, and had walked the path many times, but drawing itself was not her strong point. After a few minutes, though, she had managed to draw a black and white, about class C map, and she handed it to Link.
"You'll want to go up those two pillars," she began, pointing to the middle of the map. "That'll take you to Crateria, and the Chozo Ruins will be to the right."

Link took the parchment and glanced at it, nodding his head firmly a few times. "I'll be back... hopefully I can take care of this by myself." he mumbled, already beginning to walk back towards the entrance to Zebes.

"Careful," Samus said simply. She didn't want the kid to go alone, but he seemed dead-set on it. With a dejected sigh and a half-hearted wave, she turned back to Snake and handed him the pen he had loaned.
"Thanks," she muttered. Silence. The huntress glanced back. "He better be all right. He sounded confident enough."

Snake took the pen and put it back into the pocket it had come from and watched Link disappear back down the path.
At Samus's worried comment, he shrugged slightly and said, "The kid sounded like he knew what he was doing." After all, he knew nothing about either of them or the situation as a whole (other than 'darkness, giant demon spiders, and bad shit'), so that was all he could say.
He stepped past her and continued towards the circular area.

" .... Mm. Fair enough." Samus looked ahead and followed behind him, keeping her Paralyzer close to her, just in case.
