Name: Ridley
Fandom: Metroid
Picture:
Brief History: A high-ranking Space Pirate general, Ridley’s true origins are something of a mystery. It’s not presently known whether he was genetically engineered by the Pirates, or is of some Pirate-allied species. However he came to be, he answers only to the other members of High Command and (when she’s not busy being splattered all over Tourian) the Mother Brain on Zebes. Despite his bestial appearance, Ridley is highly intelligent. His first encounter with Samus Aran was when she was 3 years old, living on the colonized planet of K-2L. He led a Pirate raid on the planet which resulted in the deaths of Samus’s parents, and the two have since become bitter enemies. He has “died” numerous times, but is continually revived by the Pirates due to his brutal effectiveness as a combatant and leader.
Personality: Ridley’s defining trait is cruelty. His ruthlessness is legendary, as he’s more than willing to sacrifice his own men to complete a mission, and is a bit arrogant; he does, however, know when it is wise to retreat. Ridley also has a fairly short temper, especially when dealing with his hated enemy Samus Aran, and has little tolerance for the failure of his underlings. He does not like Kraid at all.
Roleplaying Sample: “Understood. Ridley out.”
On the Orpheon, a large monitor which until now had connected the massive Space Pirate frigate to their Homeworld went dark. Ridley hunched forward in his chamber, contemplating High Command’s latest transmission. Before today the Tallon system would have meant little to the Pirate cause for any reason, but anything with as much power potential as their remote probe detected was worth investigating, he supposed, no matter how far-flung or backwater a world it was hidden on. It certainly beat waiting around for countless decacycles for Mother Brain to be reassembled.
His eyes narrowed to adjust as he staggered out of his darkened chamber, still feeling a bit woozy from his sedation, deadly new mechanical components gleaming in the stark, bland lighting of the corridor. The grievous injuries the accursed Huntress had incurred upon him had necessitated...extreme measures to keep him alive, measures he would likely have rejected under other circumstances. He had no need for synthetic weaponry. But after the Pirates' defeat on Zebes, High Command was willing to try anything, and seemed to think that upgrading him into a cyborg would make him more effective in battle.
As if I weren't effective, Ridley thought to himself in what would have been, had he spoken aloud, a condescending tone. The Huntress got lucky, nothing more.
He snarled and punched the wall in frustration, leaving a deep dent as he stalked down the corridor, pondering the perfect way to thank Samus Aran for trapping him in this awkward new patchwork body. Her time would come, he assured himself, and he would see to it that it was as painful as possible. Pausing a moment to collect himself, the newly-christened Meta Ridley stepped out onto the bridge. The other Pirates all stood at attention as their commander spoke.
"Captain," he rumbled, with more than a hint of aggressive impatience, "make best possible speed to Tallon IV."
((Since I'm not entirely sure whether this RP includes the events of Super Metroid, I decided to base my sample around the days leading up to Metroid Prime. I hope that's all right.))
